The Intrinsic Power of Leadership

The Intrinsic Power of Leadership
When you look around, or read social media posts or hard copy news stories, you quickly see people mistaking leadership for the power someone has over others or over resources. It’s been said many times, in many different ways, but, given the often twisted leadership behaviour that we witness in South Africa, it has...

Inclusive Leadership in action in times of crisis.
Written by Maleshoane Thalabang (Senior Consultant)   The world is going through a time of intense difficulty, the air is filled with such heaviness, a lingering dark cloud that is unrelenting. Death, fear, job losses – all reek, causing a sense of apprehension that humanity has not face in a long time.  Organizations needs effective...

‘CREATING PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY IN THE MIDST OF A PANDEMIC’
Written by Samantha Stern (Senior Consultant)   We are living in tough times: Covid-19  (and the accompanying loss of loved ones, loss of work/income, loss of connection, loss of the familiar, loss of routine, restrictions on movement, etc.) ; the ongoing violence towards people of color...

Companies Ignore Gender Equity at their Peril
Momentum is building on issues of gender equity worldwide. Yet as a diversity and inclusion consultant, I am still aware of many organisations where sexism is rampant, and leadership is turning a blind eye. It may be so embedded in the culture and structure of the organisation that no one challenges it. WHAT HAVE I LEARNED FROM THIS LEADER?

WHAT HAVE I LEARNED FROM THIS LEADER?
This past weekend marked exactly two months since Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s passing on 2 April earlier this year. And while the media coverage of her life and final days has gone quiet, her memory is still very fresh in my mind, as well as what we can learn from her in our day-to-day lives.
State of Whose Nation

State of Whose Nation
As “us” and “them” politics continue to plague our country, I watched the State of the Nation on 16 February with keen interest. The Power of Our Stories
With the celebration of Mandela’s 100th birthday this month, I’ve been reflecting on the power of the role that Madiba played in South Africa’s story and how many others played their part before and after 1994. Each story brings a new perspective and a different piece to our bigger collective story.
